Hi! I’m Takisha Fowlkes-Shelton! A non-clinical, lived-experience-based coach, mentor, and peer recovery specialist who provides support, guidance, resources, and mentorship to individuals in trauma, mental and emotional health crises.
I am not a clinician, and I do not provide diagnoses, treatment plans, therapy, clinical interventions, or medical assessments. I offer people-centered support for individuals navigating mental and emotional challenges who are trying to regain their footing. I am deeply passionate about healing, guiding, supporting, and improving lives, with a strong value placed on expression, action, and real-world experiences.
I especially enjoy helping those facing emotional conflict, communication breakdowns, and moments of feeling unheard or unseen because I believe no one should have to walk through these struggles alone. And also because I’m no stranger to it.
At the heart of my work is a faith-filled foundation and genuine, relatable connections that help release what weighs you down and restore what has been broken.
I’m a mother, grandmother, survivor of mental, emotional and physical abuse, and a woman who knows what it means to rebuild life from the ground up. Resilience is my name.
I’ve navigated single motherhood after a long-term marriage that did not unfold the way I believed it would. I’ve experienced homelessness, domestic violence, emotional betrayal, and seasons where anxiety and depression nearly silenced me. I’ve faced discrimination, deep family wounds, broken trust, and the painful unraveling of relationships I thought were safe.
I know what it feels like to lose stability, identity, and hope, all at once.
I’ve walked through a miscarriage, a difficult custody battle, and the invisible weight of childhood trauma from witnessing abuse at an early age. I’ve struggled with codependency, isolation, and unhealthy coping mechanisms during seasons where survival felt like the only option.
But that’s not where my story ended.
Through faith, healing work, accountability, and surrender, I began the process of restoration. I learned how to regulate my emotions, set boundaries, release shame, and rebuild my life with intention. What once broke me became the very foundation of what made me who I am today.
Today, I help women & men who feel stuck, overwhelmed, unseen, or emotionally exhausted because I’ve been there. I don’t coach from a pedestal. My goal is to meet you where you are with empathy, wisdom, and tools that support emotional, mental, and spiritual healing. I aim to enlighten, empower, and inspire connection through honest expression, an approachable presence, and genuine understanding.
My story is proof that pain does not disqualify you, it prepares you.
