Happy Juneteenth

In 1865 the last enslaved people found out they were free. Thank you, Barack Obama, for making Juneteenth a National Holiday. Well deserved. This day means so many things for so many people. Slavery was in no way a kind act, it was just the opposite, cruel and unjust. However, we must pick up the pieces, mend them together, praise our ancestors, keep their legacy alive and march on in the freedom they paved for us through the adversaries they endured and had to face for so many years. Let’s put aside the hate. Put aside the malice. Put aside the anger that brews in the inside when thoughts of the past threaten to creep in and overcome us. Let’s make our ancestors proud by celebrating all we have overcome and a victory that is not yet won but is better and sweeter than before. Happy Juneteenth. ✊🏽
